What is the Scholarship & Education Program?

The Scholarship & Education Program of Long Island Justice Initiative (LIJI) is a community-based initiative designed to support immigrants and community members in accessing education, professional training, and skill development.

Our goal is to remove economic, technological, and informational barriers by providing real learning opportunities that empower individuals to prepare for employment, entrepreneurship, and active participation in society.

What opportunities does the program offer?

Through this program, we provide access to educational scholarships, online courses, and professional certifications in key areas such as technology, digital skills, data analytics, design, technical support, digital marketing, and artificial intelligence.

We partner with recognized educational platforms to offer up-to-date and relevant content, helping participants build practical, transferable skills that meet the current demands of the job market.

Who is this for, and what impact does it have?

The program is designed for immigrants, youth, adults, and community members who are looking to improve their financial stability, change careers, or develop new professional skills.

By strengthening access to education and knowledge, the Scholarship & Education Program aims to create long-term impact by promoting independence, professional growth, and new opportunities for employment or entrepreneurship within the community.

Technology designed for real life

At LIJI’s Scholarship & Education Program, we don’t believe technology is only for experts.

We believe it is a tool that can support people who are already working, already have skills, and already contribute value to their community.

Our courses are designed for immigrants who want to improve their work, better organize their businesses, or open up new opportunities—without needing prior experience in technology.

How do the scholarships work?

Our program connects you with LIJI-managed scholarships that provide access to Google courses through the Coursera platform.

These scholarships give you access to programs developed by Google, focused on practical, job-ready skills for both employment and entrepreneurship.

Once accepted into the program, you receive free access to the courses covered by the scholarship. You can study at your own pace, from your phone or computer, and earn certifications at no cost.

These scholarships are designed to remove financial barriers to learning, helping community members better prepare themselves, improve their job opportunities, and move forward with greater confidence.
